We are proud and grateful, as a family business steeped in tradition with around 110 dedicated employees at our Wuppertal location, to develop, manufacture and distribute cables and electrical wires.
In these 100 years, we have not only built a company, but also a strong community that works together to drive innovation and create long-term value.
Our story is one we have written together, and one we look to with confidence for the future.

Our Managing Directors
Our founding father
Our founder, Paul Muckenhaupt Sr., was born on July 10, 1886, in Langerfeld. He began his training in 1901 at the Reinshagen company, where he came into contact with the emerging telecommunications technology at an early age.
In 1911, he joined the German Telephone Cord and Cable Works as a production assistant and later took over the technical management. His work in the company's management was interrupted by four years of front-line service in the First World War.
In 1926, he and his friend Hans Nusselt founded our company under the name Muckenhaupt & Nusselt, from which Nusselt left again in 1929.
Reconstruction and growth in the second generation
Paul Muckenhaupt Jr. was born on April 26, 1921, and quickly followed in his father's footsteps to continue the company in the second generation.
Immediately after an internship at Mix & Genest AG in Berlin, he started as a commercial apprentice in his father's company.
In the summer of 1945, he took over management and, together with around 130 employees, oversaw the reconstruction. As a personally liable partner, he later increased the company's workforce to more than double its size.
Entrepreneurs with responsibility for people and the environment
Peter Muckenhaupt was born on February 28, 1950, and after graduating from the Carl-Duisberg-Gymnasium, he studied business administration in Münster
After gaining professional experience at Merck Telefonbau in Munich, he joined the company on March 1, 1977, as the third generation, and took over management in 1982.
As a responsible entrepreneur, he was committed to environmental protection and sustainable business practices, for which he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 2005. He died unexpectedly in 2006 at the age of 55.
Stability in challenging times
Hermann Blanke (brother-in-law of Paul Peter Muckenhaupt) joined our company on December 1, 1976 and took over the technical management there.
Following the sudden death of Paul Peter Muckenhaupt, he took over the management in 2006 and led our company through a challenging time.
As co-managing director, he accompanied Christian Muckenhaupt during the transition to the fourth generation before leaving the company in 2016.
Early responsibility in the fourth generation
Christian Muckenhaupt was born on July 15, 1982 and, following his military service in the 3rd Minesweeping Squadron, began his studies in industrial engineering at TU Dortmund.
With the sudden death of his father Paul Peter Muckenhaupt in 2006, he joined the company while still studying.
In 2009 he took over the management and is now leading Muckenhaupt & Nusselt GmbH & Co. KG in the fourth generation.
Blitz chess in our house
On Saturday, October 3, 2026, we are co-hosting the Wuppertal Open Blitz City Championship. Play will begin at 11:00 AM in our canteen at Paul-Gerhardt-Straße 25 – 13 rounds of Swiss-system blitz chess, organized in conjunction with the Elberfeld Chess Society 1851.
Participation is limited to 80 people. Advance registration is required.
